Design challenge
Create a brand that appeals to special needs children, but is also accomodating to everyone who wants to have a nice day out in nature with alpacas.
A young psychologist with an entrepreneurial spirit approached me for his daycare project for special needs children. His service was to offer a wide audience a chance to get in touch with nature and his alpacas. This services is split up into multiple packages he can offer to different target audiences.
This wide target audience made it difficult to pinpoint use cases, personas and other design directions. However, the long run dream was to give special needs children a place where they feel at home. The combination of nature, cute animals and coaching can make a positive impact on these children's health and behavior.
We decided to go for a child friendly approach where the alpacas are the central focus. The alpacas can be selected for different activities. By adding the personality traits of each alpaca, a match can be made with the needs of the children.
The homepage shows the farm with the available alpacas on site. The user can select the alpacas and see what activities and personality is linked to the alpaca.
One of the alpacas is selected. Detailed information is shown to determine whether the alpaca suits the user's needs. In addition, an activity can be selected that is linked to the alpaca.
If the user found an alpaca that suits their needs and also selected an activity, an appointment can be made. In the agenda there is an overview of all the options for the selected alpaca.
